EllaM - Question 2 Part 2

The Chemical Bothers DiGiPack uses wacky images, squares and coloures. This is where we got the inspiration to make our coloured photo grid from.
Alike our pictures these small images will most likely relate to the song tracks on the album and the band it self. I think they have decided to use this effect on their front cover because it represents their genre, electronic. Which is similar to the genre of House Rulez.
Also the font that is used is interesting because at a glance it doesn't look english, it looks quite Arabic. Which is contrasting to their style of music.
If you take of the stickers I wouldn't have known who they band were, unless you are a fan of The Chemical Brothers you wouldn't be able to recognise it. Perhaps this makes it exclusive to that particular genre. I Do think that the cover is eye catching and is very youthful because of the different colours and images used.
Overall I think this DIGIPAK appeals to its target audience for the front cover is interesting, first impressions without knowing the band I would buy this album. This is becuase it appeals to there young target audience with the use of colour and imagery.

Although their website doesn't seem to interrelate to the CD, for there is not a variety of colours used compared to the CD. The image that my eyes are drawn to is the advertisement. Although the intagration of new media is successful; news feeds, message boards, social network links etc. These all appeal to the young age and concequently to their target audience.

This DiGiPack is Daft Punk!
I think this pack is appropriate to the genre for although its simple, its eye catching. The rainbow colours under the lettering give it a little edge instead of the cover just being silver on black. This pack has the appearance of 'Cool'.
I think the effect of this DiGiPack is simple, but that is what makes it look affect I think.
The font of this cover looks like it has just been splattered on there and some how made the words 'Daft Punk'. I think it is a very unique front after looking at the other CD covers. At the beginning of our planning process for our Cd we took inspiration from Daft Punk for we thought that this was a good effect and we were going to use illuminus paint to achieve this effect ourselves. My group discussed that was would have a black background and paint on out title.
This CD cover isn't overly attractive, I think this could to due to Daft Punk already having an established target audience, they don't need to go all out with bright colours. Simple and effect!

This is the opening of the Daft Punk website, it is of similar style to there CD cover although the font is in red. This makes it look a lot more harsh and I feel that it doesn't support their genre of electronic music. Although their full website may be different but I cannot access it.

EllaM - QUESTION 3

Below are some example of feedback that we received from some people we asked to watch and evaluate our music video. After receiving the feedback we found that there were a few issues with our music video; one issue was that we didn’t have enough variety of dance moves, it was a little repetitive. Watching the our music video back I can understand where they are coming from, for we could of created more dance moves so there was less repetition. Although this would have been a little difficult for we were creating a storyline alongside the dancing, we didn’t want too much to be going on and confuse our audience.

Another issue raised was amount of effects we used (disco light effects), potentially there could have been less but we wanted to make sure that our music video fitted to our dance genre. If we were to do it all again we would take this into account and use less. For after all our audience is who we are making it for.

The last issue was the length of our last section. It involved one of our actors dancing seductively down the camera, this was the section in the song where it dropped in tempo and slowed down. Our audience thought that we could have cut it down because the lengths of these shots were too long. Looking back we can see how we could of cut this section down and still being over the three minute minimum for the music video. We have taken all the feedback into account and we now know where we made mistakes.

Positive feedback that we received was on our narrative, for it is difficult to make a comical story line, but we managed to achieve this. which we are proud of ourselves for. Also people like the fact that we didn't follow the crowd and make an Indie video, they liked the fact we challenged ourselves and created a fast beat music video.

After taking all the feedback into account we can see were our problems occurred and we now know where we made mistakes. If we were to be involved in a project  similar to this again we would know how to improve our previous mistakes.

Our feedback sheets:

Here is our audience responses in Wordle, these are key words that have been repeatedly mentioned throughout our feedback:

Annalise-New design

Hi guys hope you've enjoyed what I've done to our blog :D
I decided to use the boombox image as an background image because the boombox is one of the main themes though out our music video.

Annalise-Evaluation Question Three!

Overall our feedback was all the same.
There were three main points that our audience told us that we needed to look at these were...

  1. variation of shots
  2. colour flashes
  3. legnth of the last section

From all these issued raised we saw that that we could have had more shots of the dancers doing different dance moves because people said in the feedback that it got bit too repetitive, but there was a problem due to use having narrative in our music video it was hard to have different dance moves as we didn't want our views to get lost watching the music video.
Also people told us that we used to many colour flashes but we did this because we wanted many because this was to do with our theme going though out our music video. After watching the music video I saw that we could of done with less flashing lights.
Then the last problem was that was the length of our last section with the green screen. It would of been better but we couldn't get all of our actresses for this part it would of been better if we used more than one because it did get a bit boring.

Annalise-Evaluation Question Two!

We made two web pages The one in red I made and other one Ella M made but due to the lack of time Ella M was not able to produce hyperlinks to the web page she made but I was able to do this to the one I made. Below are scream grabs of the our two web pages...

On the red Web page the white boxes are where I have placed hyperlinks to other websites such as our artists official website and because you can buy our artist music online at HMV like many other bands/artists I have placed an hyperlink to an website that you can percuss  there album's online.
Also on my webpae there is an hyperlink to an live performances of our artist on youtube this is great becuase when using place's such as youtube at the side it gives you an option stating that if you like this video you may like this one this helps our artist become more popular and world known.I have also got hyperlinks to t-shirts etc and tour dates and as we know right know gigs are how bands and artist are making there money. Also due to today modern teens and 20 to 30's they are always on social networking sites so I have also placed hyper links on the webpage to social networks such as myspace, twitter and facebook this is another top way of gaining popularity. Also if you look at the CD and the webpage that Ella M made you can that if our target audience was to take a look at the webpage they would be able to pick out the Cd because it has the same theme as the CD cover. If they were to also look at our music video you can see that on the inside of the CD cover that are images of one of our actresses in our music video also the images are very colourful this links in with the flashing colours in our music video.

Here is the inside and outside of our CD cover as you can see it goes well with conventional dance/pop/eletro music CD covers. These two covers themes go well with the webpage that Ella B made because of the paint like effect they have on them.We all came togther in the making of the inside of the CD wherewe have lot's of different images ioned together but Ella B did the rest of the CD covers. I think that if our CD inside and outside was to be placed in an music sellings shop such as HMV it would be bourght up in a snape because it is eye catching and fit's the genre of what we are aimig for. Even though my red Webpage is not the same as the CD cover they both link in with our music video becuase they are colourful and colours are also the theme though out our music video this is an conventiona theme for an danc/eletro/pop music video such as ours also red is an main colour in pur flashing lights in our video.
The theme of our music video we an gym class becuse of the fact beat of the song and the lyrics...
Here are some images of our actresses in their outfits.
Down below are also some print screams of how we used flashing light effects in imovie from edits to help with the our music video comventional theme as well that goes with our CD cover but not really with our outside of our CD cover because it has the paint them on it and there is no real paint theme though out our music video.

Another theme thought out our music video we the homemade boombox in our music video , and the wobbling glass that showed how load the music was. We showed clips of these two objects thought out our music vdeo. An intreasting fact about our boombox is that we got the idea for it from the call on me video we I showed you in Question one!

All of the above, the flashing lights with the bright colours and the colourful editing helps us grab the attention of our target audience because it relates toflashing lights at clubs and this is a place in which our song would be played where there are flashing lights that relate to our music video.

Annalise-Evaluation Question one !

Our media product uses, develops and challenges the forms and conventions of real media products in this genre (dance/pop/electro music).
We were able to produce such an music video because we looked at many different products of our genre that are already out there.
Here are some links to some of these music video's on you tube.
( these are not the two we linked
our music video to they just
   link into our genre)

Then we narrowed it down to two music video's that we could really focus on and relate our music video too.
Due to this we were able to gain from the two music video we narrowed down to conventions of our own music video. Some of the conventions were that there had to have good looking girls in the video, the beat and tempo had to be fast and and the shot lengths were not to be fast and cut short unless it was narrative. Also if you take a look at the Four video's above and below you will see many similarity's such as the girls in each music video are sexy and have flawless make-up there clothes are bright and tight and all the music video's have parts of the music video where there are loud bold colours radiating from them.
Here are the music video's that are the last two narrowed down to...
Next to this video is an image of our actresses in there outfits as you can see we have copied of there ideas for the type of clothing in our music video.
From the video above Perfect Exceeder video by Mason v Princess Superstar we were able to look at the brightly coloured clothing and sexy outfits and were able to relate this and take it in for our music video but our actresses covered up a but more than the artists in this video. If you take a look at the video below we also used this video for ideas for conventional clothing in ate gym like music video once again our actresses were more covered up because we were making an parody of both these music video's.
Also looking at these video's you'll see that the make-up and hair though out the video's are flawless this adds to the sex appeal in the music video that we were trying to make humerus in our music video. As well both of these video's support dominate ideology that women in gym video's are sexy and always look flawless but they also support recessive ideology because when women really go to the gym they don't look like this but if you do you are very lucky.
we also effected our music video by adding different coloured flashing lights and we effected the lips thought out our music video this added an surreal trend to it we got this idea from the video of our garner we loot at below...

In the video above they have edited effects into there music video using the green scream this is where e gained our colour flashing ideas on the green scream at the end of our music video.
against like this last video above we challenged dance/pop/electro music idea conventions because we have at the same time narrative running thought our music video we did this because, yes it's sexy but it can get I bit repetitive so we volumed it up with some narrative so it is not of the norm for an conventional pop/dance/eletro music video we tyred to use a wide range of ideals, methods and practises . We also made our music video more funny than sexy this also challenges the other video's above par the last one.

EllaM - Sharing the Load

Overall we had four shots for film our music video, although the first too didn't make it in to the final cut. One because the first location was different (FitSpace) and meant we could use clips from this shoot for the setting was different to EllaB's house (obviously). For our second shoot I couldn't attend but EllaB and Annalise filmed together but unfortunately we couldn't use any of that footage either because of poor lighting. On the third and four shots we made sure we had good lighting in all shots and because of a lack of actresses Annalise had to step in a be a dancer for us, so me and EllaB shared filming and lighting between us. When it came to editing Annalise thought it only fare that she did more editing because me and EllaB had filmed.

EllaM - Jump Cuts

In our music video we decided to use jump cuts to fit to the beat of the music, normally jump cuts aren't approved of but here they work. For the music that we have chosen to use is fast and requires a lot of quick cuts to keep up with the tempo, this was a good reason for us to integrate jump editing. We mostly jump cut slower sections of the footage e.g. walking, slow dance movement, switching the TV on and the writing of the sign at the beginning of the video.

EllaM - The wobbly glass of water

In some sections of our music video we wanted to get across to the audience that the music was very load (that is the reason for the Dad investigating the noise). I thought that in other music videos or TV programs I have seen, sometimes to portray that a noise is too loud they make something shack to emphasis it. I thought of the idea to wobble the table which the glass was on to create the ripple effect that is seen on screen. Hopefully by doing this we make it clear to the audience the volume of the music :)

EllaM - Our Actors

We had two sets of actors because we had two
different locations. We first filmed with my friends
Sadie and  Maria:
                                                                                     Maria: First Fitness Instructor
 Sadie: Dancer

On our second shoot we had t use new dancers because we couldn't arrange a date that both my friends could film. We then used three of EllaB's friends: Alice, Grace, Ellie and Annalise from our media group.

 Alice: Second Fitness Instructor

 Ellie, Grace and Annalise: Dancers

On yes and we can't forget EllaB's Dad playing a Dad!

EllaM - Green Screen

For a section of our music video we decided to use the green screen, originally were meant to have more than one of our dancers on it. But in the end it was just Annalise, although she did do a very good job of acting seductive.

Annalise-Equitment used in making the music video.

lighing we also used floor lights for lighting because they ae more easy to move so when we didn't have enought light in a shoot we coud move the floor light to the correct place this helped use out so that we didn't make the same mistake the me amd Ella B made when filming for the second time.

Tripod we used this to keep are camera steady so we didn't get camera shake. this also helps use film at different angle such as high and low angles. The tripod also helps use pan tilt and helps use create a wip pan.

Camcorder, we used an canon camera to film our music video. Before we flimed using these camera's we had to white balance them and make syre they were in focus.

Mac we used the mac the most out of al the equipment we had to use for example we used the mac for edditing importing the music video. We als used the mac making are CD cover and making our website.

Annalise-The usage of the greensceam

For the last part of our music video we used the green scream in the back of the media mac suite. We used the green scream for filming tyhe close up of the lips and for the lipsycning .

we also used  the green scream  to film on of our actresses
dancing for the last part of our music video we edited
this in imovie by adding flashing lights on top of it.

Annalise-spliting up the making of the music video

We all came togther on deciding on the music for our music video. Then for the first filming at fitspace we all filmed but then we found out that we could use  Ella b's gym like room in her house. For our Second filming me and Ella B filmed but Ella M couldn't film due to a dance competion but it was good that she didn't waste her petrol becuase wehad to refilm due to pure lighting. Then for the Thired and fouth filming due to lack of actresses I had to play a part in our music video so Ella M and Ella B filmed so to share out the making of the film I did more editing.
